Italian Country Estate Carmel Valley
The genesis of this design was a visit to an italian country home in the country side around Montespertoli, Italy. The site for this home is on a saddle overlooking two valleys, one with classic central California live oaks and native grasses, the other looking to the redwood forested mountains of Big Sur. The house, detached office, guest wing, and garages form an arrival court with a central entry tower that announces the main entry. Through the front door is a tall entry space which leads to a gallery space that opens to the great room to the south, and a courtyard to the north shaped by existing heritage oak trees.
This project was designed while a Ptrincipal at John Malick and Associates.
