greene & greene style bungalow - healdsburg, Ca
This home was designed for a couple that dreamed of building a 'Greene and Greene' style home on a hill top overlooking Sweetwater Springs valley in Healdsburg, California. The home is composed of shallow gabled intersecting volumes, with broad eaves, copper covered shaped rafter tails, red cedar shingle cladding and a river rock stone and clinker brick base. The two central spaces of the home are the stair hall and great room. The stair hall is entered through a massive mahogany and stained glass front door from a generous porch. The stair itself is a meticulously crafted study of interwoven wood elements which combine into a masterpiece of craftsman construction. The stair hall leads to the great room, which features a tall skylit kitchen opening to a truss gabled great room overlooking the valley. The master bedroom suite floats above the entry porch with a similar gabled space and large shaded porch which serves as an overlook to the pool, lawn, and outdoor entertainment area. The home has been featured in American Bungalow Magazine, Fine Homebuilding, Savor, the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, and the Wall Street Journal.
